Supporting Our CommunitiesMost web sites offer at least a link if not a search box to one search engine or more. Why not encourage users to search Alaska or your community first? What every Alaskan site can do TODAY is add AlaskanBest.Com to their web site. The search box code can be found here and text links can be found here. I'll customize the search box to match the look and feel of your site for free, just send an email. One example of customization can be found at AllAlaskans.Com (scroll to the bottom). In this example the user has the option to search just the site or choose to search AlaskanBest.Com. One important feature of the search box and links I've created is that the results open in a new page. This is so your visitor never leaves your site while they are using the search. So how can we use AlaskanBest.com to support our local communities? There are a few ways already built into AlaskanBest.Com right now. There are links to search by zip code, local communities, or by community events and holidays. You can copy the relevant links to your site to allow your visitors to get more information about your community quickly and easily. On request I will create a local version of AlaskanBest.com that will only search in a particular community. I have created several already which you can access through this pop up window. You can also access the list from the drop down menu on the home page These community search pages can include sponsorship information of a sponsoring organization or business. The community search results page includes major links of interest for the community. A user can continue to search from the results page and still get only relevant local results. This option also allows others to link to the local search page or host the local search form on their own site.
