Best Practices for Success

It's important to understand that AlaskanBest.com draws its data from Google.com. In order for your site to appear in AlaskanBest.com it MUST be included in the Google index. To determine if your site is included in the Google index go to Google.com and enter site:yourdomain.com in the search box to see what pages of your site are in the index.

If your site is not included in the Google index, then you should visit their Webmasters Help. Of particular help are their Webmasters Guidelines.

If your web site is in the index, but is not showing up in the results for the search terms you think your users would use to find your site, then that is a matter of 'optimizing' your pages for search engines. Here is a search of "Search Engine Optimization" in AlaskanBest.Com which includes Alaskan companies and information that may help.

Create specific pages for users on the topics or areas you want to be included in results. For instance, a Seward Bed and Breakfast may want to have a page about Seward, and then additional pages about different Seward events. Submitting a site map is the best and quickest way to get your site indexed. For a limited time I will create site maps and URL list for submission to Google, MSN and Yahoo free, for any site that includes an AlaskanBest.com search box. Just email me with the location of the search box and your request for a site map. First come, first serve and I really don't know how long I will be offering this particular service for free.

Become a Search Partner by including an AlaskanBest.Com search box on your site and receive a reciprocal link.
